Webelos (pronounced WEE-buh-lohs) stands for “WE’ll BE LOyal Scouts” and marks the start of an 18-month adventure where Scouts begin shifting from Cub-level fun to more scout-style skills and independence.
Fourth graders in the Webelos Den start camping more, learning outdoor survival basics, first aid, leadership, and goal setting. They’re also discovering their strengths and interests —whether it’s science, fitness, or community service.
At this stage, Webelos are becoming leaders within the Pack, taking on more responsibility and initiative. Adult assistance is still required for outings, whittling, hiking, cooking, and camping, so check with your den leader on how to best support the den. This is where growth gets real and really exciting.
