The Bear Den is for 3rd graders who are really starting to come into their own. At this level, Cub Scouts take on more challenging activities—from building things with tools to learning about safety, service, and the world around them.
Bears begin showing more personal responsibility and independence, though parents still support and encourage from the sidelines. Third graders may be expected to participate on their own, but adult assistance is required for activities like whittling, hiking, and cooking. Check with your den leader to learn how you can best support the den.
It’s a year of skill-building, confidence-boosting, and maybe even a little healthy (supervised) risk-taking. Bears are bold, curious, and full of energy, ready to try new things and earn those adventure loops with pride.
