The Arrow of Light (AOL) is the highest rank in Cub Scouting—and the final step before Scouts cross over into Scouts BSA. Fifth grade Scouts in this den are building serious skills: leadership, outdoor survival, teamwork, and service.
AOL Scouts take on more responsibility, help lead younger Scouts, and get a real taste of troop life. They may visit local Scouts BSA troops, work in patrols, go on more advanced campouts, and take on leadership roles as they prepare for the next step. Adult assistance is still required for outings and camping to help guide and support their growing independence.
This year is all about growth, grit, and getting ready for the next big adventure. And trust us—it’s a proud moment when they cross that bridge, both literally and figuratively.
